               This is a read-me file for 3ISLANDS.ZIP

The ZIP file you have downloaded contains three files:
$README3.TXT - You are reading that file now
SENDMAP20.EXE A program to send maps to Garmin GPS
3ISLANDS.IMG An IMG file of three islands in Lake Winnipesaukee,
Long Island, Cow Island, and Bear Island

The purpose of this file is for you to test whether or not your Garmin
GPS can accept the IMG files created by Bizer. If you are succesful
in loading 3ISLANDS.IMG, then you should be able to load Bizer's
map of Winnipesaukee when (and if) Bizer is able to complete its
Garmin-format map of Winnipesaukee (hopefully, in 2007).

WARNING: This file is not to be used for navigation. This file only
contains the outline of Bear Island, Long Island, and Cow Island.
The three islands should be in their correct locations, but no other
data are provided. Other islands (such as Dollar Island, or Little Bear
Island) have been omitted. No buoys are displayed and no navigation
hazards are displayed. If you load this file into your Garmin GPS, it
will
   (A) Erase any maps already loaded by Mapsource or any other
program. After verifying that you are able to load 3ISLANDS,
       you may reload other maps.
   (B) It will cover and hide the base map in your GPS.

What to do:
Connect your Garmin to your computer via the USB or serial port.
   Turn the Garmin on
After downloading 3ISLANDS.ZIP, unZIP the file.
From the DOS prompt, change the directory to the directory in
      which you downloaded these files.
Enter the command SENDMAP20. A new window should open.
Click on "Add maps", select 3ISLANDS.IMG, and click "open"
On the Sendmap page, click on "Upload selected maps to GPS"
Your Garmin should now be loaded with an image of the three islands.
If the Bizer map does not appear, insure your Garmin is set to Marine mode.
On Bizer's 276C, press menu twice to get to the main menu; thence
scroll to "Setup". Scroll to "Usage Mode" and hit enter. Select
      "Marine".
If you can select the size of displayed waypoints, Bizer suggests
"Medium" or "Small" so that the map does not become cluttered.
On Bizer's 276C, hit "MENU" once; select "Set Up Map"; tab over
to "Waypoint"; tab down to Waypoints; hit enter; scroll down to
      "Medium" or "Small"; hit "Quit".
Occasionally, the download just hangs. I find that if I close the
Sendmap window and restart it, it works the next time.
To close the Garmin window, click "Exit" in the lower right. Clicking
the "X" in the upper right doesn't work.
